Governor Rick Scott has signed legislation that could pave the way for trips into space right here in Jacksonville. The measure strengthens Cecil Airport’s ability to compete as a commercial horizontal launch spaceport. This morning, we examined Jacksonville’s potential future as a space hub with Michael Stewart, Director of External Affairs at the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA), and Todd Lindner, Senior Manager of Aviation Planning and Spaceport Development.
May is World Trade Month here in Florida. The JAX Chamber is working to get the word out about the importance of going after international business here on the First Coast. We spoke to George Gabel, chair of the Chamber’s Logistics Advisory Group, about the economic impact of world trade in our corner of the state.
Les Misérables: The New 25th Anniversary Production is coming to the Times-Union Center for eight performances only. The show kicks off tonight and features glorious new staging and spectacular reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo. We welcomed actor Timothy Gulan, who plays Thenardier in the production, to Studio 5 this morning for a preview.
And in our Tech Tuesday segment, we discussed the new venture capital formed by the Winklevoss twins. Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss famously sued Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg claiming that he ripped off the idea for the site from them. Tech blogger Joey Marchy joined us to talk about Winklevoss Capital.
